The people in the middle ages living in the villages were normally born and died in the same village, they rearly travelled much further than the local market town.
They were serfs, which were land less people who worked for the Lord. they were called peasants.
The Dukes and Earls lived in stone castles.
The first castles were built in France during the 9th century.
When most people had castles they built moats around the castles and aquaducts to them.
In the turrets (towers), there were slits where they would fire arrows out of.
